Sarn Cynfelyn, or The Causeway as it is also called, is a long narrow ridge of boulders and clay that heads out several
miles into Cardigan Bay from Wallog, a couple of miles north of Aberystwyth. It is the lateral moraine from the great glacier
that flowed down the Dyfi Valley during the last ice-age, but it is often connected to the legend of Cantre'r Gawelod, the once-fertile plain lost forever beneath the seas. After the ice-age, sea-levels rose by about 120 metres - coincidence?
